So, here we go! I guess this is a lame start to what I hope will be a good blog about my journey of growth as a nurse. I don't have any expectations right now but they will come as I progress.
I'm hoping by doing this it will allow my writing to get better and allow myself to do personal reflection on life, career, family and anything else in between. However, it goes without saying, should I post anything work related it will be confidential and about ME, not the person I'm writing about(if you get what I mean).
So, let me tell you about me because lets face it, it's not much fun reading a blog without knowing who you're reading about!
I'm a mother of four beautiful kids, a wife to an awesome man who without him I couldn't be doing what I do today. I've always wanted to be a nurse after spending years in and out of hospital. Okay, make that years my whole life starting from the day I was born. I always held great admiration for the nurses who cared for me and the doctors who saved me and kept on making my quality of life better. I also owe that to my parents since ultimately, it was their decision to allow the doctors to do the aforementioned.
I completed a Diploma of nursing in early 2013 and found my very first job ever in a local nursing home. It's been a great start to my career, if not to see how the professional world works and to find my own feet in said world. I enjoy the work and the appreciation you get back from residents often makes you smile and you know you just made someone's day a little brighter. That in turn makes my own day a little brighter too!
And that's it for the moment. You'll learn more about me as we follow the journey and I hope you enjoy it!
